We believe every animal deserves safety, dignity, and a place to call home — no matter where they came from or what they've been through.
How it started
A Love for Animals from the Start
Copper Penny Ranch was bought in 1961 by my grandparents. I own part of the 240 acre ranch and I'm now using it as an animal sanctuary - Forever Home at Copper Penny Ranch.
Growing up I tried to save every stray, abandoned, or injured animal. My dad was a strong and firm rancher with a cattle business. He would tell me not to name the animals I would find and bring home. We ended up with some unnamed pets...such as White dog and Black puppy. If truth be known, my love for animals came from my dad, but his tough exterior made it difficult to see.
Now I have an adult child on the spectrum. Animals are his friends. He thrives on helping me on the farm.
Today, Copper Penny Ranch is a registered 501(c)(3) nonprofit sanctuary dedicated to rescuing, rehabilitating, and rehoming farm animals in need. Every animal here has a story. Every story matters. Crista
Our mission
What we stand for
Rescue first
We take in animals others can't place — the elderly, the injured, the overlooked. No animal is turned away if we have the space and resources to help.
Lifelong care
This is a forever sanctuary. Animals who come to us stay with us. We don't rush rehoming — we wait until the right match comes along, and sometimes that match is us.
Community rooted
We would love to have community volunteers. We will set aside special volunteer days.
Humane always
Every decision we make — from feeding schedules to medical care — is guided by the animals' wellbeing first. We follow best practices in farm animal welfare and never compromise on that standard.
